Alert! Quarterly Meeting Date Moved

Since the CR Training Event (OneDay) in Brentwood, CA was confirmed for January 27th, we needed to change our date for the Quarterly so as not to distract from their promotion & attendance. We just received confirmation from Horizon that we can have our Quarterly at the Sherwood campus on February 3rd. So the location is the same, 22240 SW Washington St, Sherwood, OR 97140, & the times are the same 10am to 3:30pm (doors open at 8am for set-up), but the date is now Saturday, February 3, 2018.

I hope that this is going to work for everyone, it’s been quite the challenge this time landing on a venue & date but we’re finally done with that part, & can now go ‘full speed ahead’ to promote this event & plan for the best Quarterly ever!

Here’s a new / updated flyer…  Sorry for the inconvenience if you’ve already had flyers made with the old date, but make sure that if you did, to pick them all up & throw them away!!

Hazardous road conditions and even requests by authorities to avoid travel seem almost certain.

New CRI State Rep for Washington Appointed

Ken Davis MugshotKen Davis, from Crossroads CR, has been appointed Washington’s latest state rep for CR Inside.

Ken has been involved with Celebrate Recovery for over 10 years & currently serves as the ML for the men’s CRI team at Clark County Jail in Vancouver. Additionally, he is part of the recent CRI start-up team at Larch Correctional Facility (minimum security men’s prison) in Yacolt, WA.

Ken is retired but works part time in his construction business. Here’s how Ken says it

“My name is Ken Davis, I am a grateful believer in Jesus Christ, and a recovering addict, I have been clean and in Celebrate Recovery for over 10 ½ years. I am retired although still work part time in my construction business. My wife and I live, and direct a faith based transitional youth house, with up to 6 young men also in recovery, in Yacolt, Washington.”

We are so fortunate to have Ken, following faithfully his Lord, into the prisons & jails &, into the brokenness of others lives. Staying in recovery ourselves, allowing the Spirit to change us & direct our steps into this CR Inside ministry/mission is indeed a high calling & one not without much opposition on the part of God’s enemy & ours.. please take a moment to offer up a prayer for Ken & his family, for their protection & victory for Christ’s purposes.

‘Jesus said to all of them, “If people want to follow me, they must give up the things they want. They must be willing to give up their lives daily to follow me.’ Luke 9:23

Ken can be reached through by completing our contact form.

Oregon CRI Quarterly on Oct 4th

Good Day Friends..

kent & W MugshotA sunny Saturday in the Pacific NW, a touch of Fall in the air, an amazing experience for sure! Two Saturdays from today, October 4th, we will be having our CRI Quarterly meeting at the SW Bible Church, 14605 SW Weir Rd, Beaverton, OR 97007, room 222. The meeting will start promptly at10am & be finished by 1pm, there will be a short break somewhere in the middle. This quarter we won’t be having a meeting in Salem, only the one at SW Bible, the reason is, we are having a special re-entry training in addition to our normal CRI reports from all the inside groups, discussion & goal setting. Mike Cross, Portland Metro CRI Rep, will be highlighted in the training session, he has spent years as a professional mentor for Washington County in addition to being a HGO mentor & overseeing transitional housing/programing for Free On The Outside in Oregon City. This training will be to kick-off for CRI’s focus on re-entry for the coming year bringing it up in equal importance to our success with inside programming in prisons & jails. Since you all will be part of this in many ways please make being present at this meeting a priority, we will be looking to you for your input & assistance.
The CRI Quarterly usually happens on the first Saturday of each quarter, these are open meetings with the intention that curious individuals, or those wanting to get involved, can come to find out about all the different CRI groups & how they work, ask questions & meet the incredible leaders who are taking Celebrate Recovery to new levels! Please be encouraged to invite committed fellow CR friends, pastors or anyone you feel would benefit by being with us, we will be looking forward to welcome everyone.
We’re excited to announce that Ken Davis has been named as the new Washington CRI Rep & he will be with us on the 4th to share his first report as a rep! Ken, from Crossroads CR in Vancouver, is currently the ML for the men’s group at the Clark County Jail & part of the new team taking CR into the Larch Correctional Center. Ken is already a valuable part of CRI & we’re looking forward to working alongside him in his new role as a state rep.
You are receiving this email because you are either already part of the greater CRI team, a chaplain or associate of ours or, a CR Ministry Leader/State Rep. We’ve included you Ministry Leaders because of our new initiative on re-entry & the vital role the community CR groups will be playing, as we improve our ability to help offenders transition out of imprisonment into a new healthy & successful life. Going forward CRI in Oregon/Washington will be offering specific training for the community CR TEAM’s, general meetings & those individuals who identify themselves as wanting to help in CRI work with their ML’s approval. If you do not want to be on our email list & receive any further emails, please reply to Kent Whitaker ( & simply ask to be removed from the list & you will be. Also, we’ve tried to eliminate duplicate entries but if you’ve received 2 or more of this email please let us know so we can correct that.

Online Registration Closes on August 4th.

Hello, CR Forever Family!!

Over 2300 at the East Coast Summit in Orlando including several of you from Missouri! The Summit theme this year is “Moving Forward / Decade of The Newcomer.” How many Christ-centered recovery ministries do you know besides Celebrate Recovery that has been around for 23 years? To stay strong for another generation CR has to MOVE FORWARD! You all have been and continue to be committed and dedicated in providing a safe and effective CR program to your church and community. Countless lives have been changed! It is my prayer for all of you to keep your CR program “Moving Forward” by learning fresh new ways to do CR that will have an even greater impact in reaching out to and ministering to the Newcomer. Remembering always that it is all about the Newcomer!

“And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful.”
Titus 3:14

The CR Model at Saddleback is taking the decade of the Newcomer very seriously! Johnny Baker shared there deliberate focus to put the Newcomer first in ALL aspects of the CR Format – in the dinner, the welcome and announcements, the music, the lesson, the testimonies, the small groups…..all of CR. We say our CR is a safe place – A Newcomer will prove that it is by coming back and inviting others to come with him.

I challenge you to examine your CR program through the eyes of The Newcomer!

Some Highlights from the EC Summit:

CR Lessons on DVD! Johnny Baker has recorded ALL 25 Lessons on DVD and is now available to purchase from Saddleback Resources. This is not only a great tool for new CR groups, but a great fill in when you don’t have a teacher that night or when you need a special speaker. Click here to purchase and to see a preview of some of the lessons:

New CR Worship CD Volume 2! I saw a preview of the newest Worship DVD at the Summit and it is awesome! No worship team? No worries! The CR Worship CD 2 will soon be available at Saddleback Resources. Click here to look at Worship CD 1:–P10667.aspx

DNA vs. Best Practices. This is a great workshop offered at the Summit. It helped me to remember that CR is a ministry of GRACE and to not burden participants by establishing unnecessary rules. To handle issues case by case. We build a healthy ministry by following the CR DNA. The CR DNA helps to create an environment to help the Newcomer learn as they go. The CR DNA helps us to stay focused on grace, truth and love. In the CR DNA, the Bible is the core of everything we do and keeps our groups safe.

Attached is the revised version of the CR DNA. Please copy and review at your next Leader’s Meeting.
